Auditions will be held at the Alliance for the Arts in the following categories:
Dance: ages 8-14, ages 15-21
Contemporary Voice (including musical theatre): ages 8-12, ages 13-16, ages 17-21
Classical Voice: ages 13-16, ages 17-21
Instrumental Music: ages 13-16, ages 17-21
Drama: ages 13-16, 17-21
Thirty-three students will be awarded scholarships; twenty-two finalists will be chosen to perform at a gala at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre on March 2, 2008. Participants will also be invited to attend a seminar featuring educators and professionals in the various performing arts fields.

Naples Music Club Scholarship Competition

2 contrasting selections from the Classical repertoire
grades 6-8, grades 9-12 (Vocal students must be 7th grade or higher)
This competition is open to students residing or attending public or private schools in Collier County. Winners are awarded cash prizes which are to be used for summer music camp fees or lessons. Winners are expected to perform on the Winners Recital.
Calusa Musicale Junior Festival
Deadline: January 9
Audition: February 9 and 10
Location: Edison College, Lee County Campus
State Festival: University of North Florida in Jacksonville on May 5 and 6, 2006
Students can compete in a variety of catagories ranging from piano solo to musical theatre voice.

Entrants do not compete against each other; each is rated on his/her own merits. Judges complete Rating Sheets to include comments on the students’ performance. All teachers who enter students in Junior Festivals MUST belong to a Senior Federated Music Club. This is an achievement evaluation program for students of Florida State Music Teachers Association members. Students may enter for a Certificate of Achievement or Certificate of Progress. Students take theory exams based on their "level" and play two contrasting pieces from the standard repertoire.
SWFMTA Scholarship Competition
Deadline: March 26
Audition: Saturday, April 26
Performance: Sunday, May 11
Location: Edison College, Lee County Campus
2 contrasting pieces; no cuts; total performance time 10 minutes
grades 6-8; grades 9-1
This competition is open to students of FMMTA members in good standing . High School winners are awarded scholarships in the amount of $200 each in three catagories: vocal performance, keyboard, and instrumental. Junior High winners receive awards of $75 . Each winner is expected to perform on the Honors Recital.
Clara Blood Memorial Scholarship Competition

Southwest Florida Symphony Young Artist Competition

1 movement from a standard concerto
students age 22 and younger
This competition is open to students in Lee, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Charlotte counties who are age 22 and younger. Competitors perform music from the standard repertoire for which orchestral accompaniment is published and readily available. Instrumentalists and Pianists must play one movement from a concerto for soloist and orchestra. Memorization is required. Winners are awarded scholarship prizes. Overall winner performs auditioned piece with the Southwest Florida Symphony. For more information visit
Young Artist Steinway Competition

This competition consists of 4 categories, grades K-3, 4-5, 6-9 and 10-12. Standard repertoire. No required pieces, no memorization.
