Established in 1954, Southwest Florida Music Teachers Association is an organization of professional music teachers who offer private and group music instruction to students of all ages. Our members teach in public and / or private studios as well as music programs at area universities. Our teachers are from both Lee and Collier counties, and teach students from the entire Southwest Florida region.
Southwest Florida Music Teachers Association (SWFMTA) is affiliated with the Florida State Music Teachers Association (FSMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Founded in 1876, MTNA is the oldest music teachers association in the United States.
It is our goal to provide the highest quality music education to area students, as well as offer competitive and non-competitive events such as community outreach recitals, scholarship auditions, annual evaluations, recitals, and composition and ensemble festivals. Membership provides our teachers opportunities to participate in these events, obtain state and national certification, attend workshops and conferences, and network with other teachers.
